Materials: Sculpted vinyl-plaster compound colored with multiple layers of acrylic paint, pewter leaf paint and glazes, 2 vintage buttons, hundreds of small paper circles, finished with an ultra-durable exterior varnish
Description: Inspired by the koi in the Japanese Tea Gardens nestled in Balboa Park, this white and silver koi fish slithers peacefully through the cool water with no apparent destination. What makes this piece truly unique are the hundreds of paper scales delicately placed to give life and movement to the fish's elongated body. The three dimensional top fin breaks the surface of the pond while the vintage button eyes gaze lazily ahead.
